Police rescue abducted woman in Edo
Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped woman, Jemila Ibrahim, and arrested five suspected abductors in Edo North.
Police spokesperson, CSP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to the statement, security operatives rescued the victim during a bush combing operation around Okpege River Road in Iyuku Community, Jattu.
The operation took place on May 13, 2026.
Suspects arrested during operation
The police said the victim was abducted on May 10 before security operatives tracked down the suspects.
Authorities identified the arrested suspects as Nura Saminu, 24; Shaibu Isah, 23; Suraj Sabitu, 23; Yajubu Sagiru, 23; and Oseni Abdullahi, 26.
“The victim was rescued unhurt and taken to the hospital for medical attention,” the statement said.
Police added that the suspects remain in custody pending the conclusion of investigations.
Police assure residents of stronger security
Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, commended officers involved in the operation for their swift response and professionalism.
He also reassured residents of the command’s determination to tackle kidnapping and violent crimes across the state.
The police said the suspects would face prosecution after investigations are completed.
