Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed that he is receiving treatment for a neurological condition after collapsing during a match for the second time in four days.
The 23-year-old went down six minutes after coming on as a substitute during Bayern’s 4-2 friendly victory over Heidenheim on Tuesday. Musiala appeared dazed as he received medical attention before being helped from the pitch.
The incident came just four days after he had also collapsed during Bayern’s 3-1 friendly win over RB Leipzig in Munich. The Germany international later addressed concerns about his health in a statement posted on Instagram. Further explaining that doctors had diagnosed him with temporary absence seizures linked to a neurological dysfunction.
He said the episodes were brief and “easily treatable”, adding that he understood why the incidents could appear frightening to those watching. Musiala said he was receiving medical treatment and remained optimistic about his condition, while thanking Bayern, his family and friends for their support.
Following Tuesday’s match, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that the club was already aware of the situation. “We knew about it and we are aware of the situation,” Eberl said, adding that Musiala would address the issue himself.
The latest incidents come after a difficult period for Musiala, who missed the first half of last season after suffering an ankle fracture at the 2025 Club World Cup. He returned during the second half of the campaign and subsequently featured prominently for Germany at the 2026 World Cup, starting three of their four matches.
For now, Musiala’s focus is on treatment as Bayern monitor his condition. His decision to publicly explain the diagnosis has also provided some reassurance following two alarming incidents on the pitch within a matter of days.
