Security operatives and local vigilantes recovered 245 stolen cattle after disrupting separate bandit operations in Kaduna State.
The Kaduna State Police Command, working with local vigilantes and community security groups, has recovered 245 rustled cattle during two separate operations in Igabi and Kudan Local Government Areas.
Police said bandits attacked a Fulani settlement near Rubu Village in Igabi LGA on May 31, tying up cattle rearers and guards before stealing a large number of cattle. A joint team of police operatives, Miyetti Allah vigilantes and Civilian Joint Task Force members launched a rescue operation, forcing the suspects to abandon over 200 cattle and flee.
In a separate operation in Hunkuyi, security operatives recovered 45 additional cattle hidden in a bush along the Zaria–Kano Expressway. The bandits reportedly opened fire on the team but were repelled and escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
The Kaduna Police Command said investigations are ongoing to arrest the suspects and dismantle the criminal networks behind the attacks. Authorities also praised the collaboration between security agencies, vigilante groups and local communities in combating cattle rustling and other crimes.
Police have urged residents to continue providing credible information as efforts to improve security across Kaduna State continue.
