Ojude Oba 2026 Showcases Culture, Fashion and Yoruba Elegance

Colourful Festival Lights Up Ijebu-Ode

The 2026 Ojude Oba festival transformed Ijebu-Ode into a grand celebration of culture, fashion and tradition.

Thousands of guests filled the Awujale Palace pavilion as the annual event delivered another impressive display of Yoruba heritage.

Top dignitaries attended the festival, including Dapo Abiodun, Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, Gbenga Daniel and Seyi Tinubu.

Regberegbe Groups Steal the Spotlight

The famous regberegbe age-grade groups remained the centre of attention throughout the celebration.

Members appeared in beautifully crafted aso-oke outfits, flowing agbadas and elaborate gele head ties.

In addition, royal beads, colourful embroidery and traditional drumming added more excitement to the cultural parade.

As a result, the festival grounds looked like a massive runway for Yoruba fashion and elegance.

Festival Holds in Honour of Late Awujale

This year’s edition carried deep emotional significance for the people of Ijebuland.

The celebration marked the first Ojude Oba festival since the death of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

The respected monarch passed away in July last year after a historic 65-year reign.

Consequently, organisers dedicated the festival to celebrating his legacy and contributions to Ijebu unity and culture.

Farooq Oreagba Captures Attention Again

Finance executive Farooq Oreagba became one of the biggest attractions at the festival.

He entered the arena on horseback wearing a white agbada with bold purple embroidery.

His appearance immediately drew cheers, cameras and admiration from attendees across the venue.

Festival Boosts Tourism and Local Economy

Beyond fashion and entertainment, the festival also boosted economic activities across Ogun State.

The event attracted tourists from different parts of Nigeria and the diaspora community.

Local traders, transport operators and small businesses also benefited from increased commercial activities during the celebration.

Furthermore, the festival strengthened its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading cultural tourism events.
