YouTube has taken down a channel linked to a pro-Iran group that created viral Lego-style AI videos mocking Donald Trump. The platform cited violations of its policies on spam, deceptive practices, and scams.
The channel, run by a group called Explosive Media, was removed on March 27. While the group claims to be independent, it is widely believed to have ties to Iran. Explosive Media gained massive attention during the ongoing U.S.-Iran tensions for its satirical animations, which racked up millions of views.
In response to the ban, the group criticized YouTube on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Seriously! Are our LEGO-style animations actually violent?” Despite the removal, Explosive Media continues to share its content on other platforms like X and Telegram. Its Instagram presence has also faced restrictions, though alternative accounts remain active.
The videos often portray Trump as a cartoonish character with exaggerated features, placing him in humorous or embarrassing situations. One popular clip, titled “Trump Always Chickens Out,” imagines fictional events involving world leaders and military conflicts.
Experts say these videos are part of a growing trend of using meme-like animations as a tool for propaganda, a phenomenon some call the “Legofication” of information warfare.
Interestingly, the videos are in English, suggesting they target international audiences. This is notable since platforms like X are restricted in Iran. Limited internet access within the country has also raised questions about how the content is created and distributed.
Explosive Media denies any connection to the Iranian government, calling such claims “media distortion.” However, scrutiny of the group’s activities continues.
