A Magistrate Court in Sagamu has adjourned the trial of a driver linked to a fatal crash involving Anthony Joshua to June 2, 2026.

The defendant, Adeniyi Mobolaji, is facing multiple charges, including dangerous and reckless driving causing death. The case was adjourned for the fourth time to allow prosecutors to file additional charges. Presiding magistrate Olufunilayo Somefun granted the request without objection from the defence.

The charges include negligent driving, driving without due care, causing bodily harm, property damage, and operating a vehicle without a valid licence under Nigeria’s traffic laws.

The case stems from a December 29, 2025 crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The Lexus SUV driven by Mobolaji collided with a stationary truck. The accident killed Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami.

Joshua and the driver sustained minor injuries and were later discharged from hospital. The deaths of Ayodele and Ghami sent shockwaves through the international boxing community, where both men were key members of Joshua’s team.

Defence counsel Abiodun Olalekan said the adjournment would ensure a fair hearing for all parties involved.

The court’s decision means the case will continue to draw attention as legal proceedings unfold.
