Henry Nowak Murder Case: Victim told police ‘I can’t breathe’ while handcuffed

Bodycam footage has raised fresh questions about police actions before murder victim Henry Nowak lost consciousness.

New details from the Henry Nowak murder case revealed that the teenager repeatedly told police officers “I can’t breathe” while handcuffed after he had been fatally stabbed. The footage was shown following the conviction of Vickrum Digwa, who was jailed for life for the murder.

The case has sparked widespread public concern, with political leaders and campaigners calling for answers over the police response. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the actions of officers who attended the scene.

Digwa was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve a minimum of 21 years. The IOPC said officers involved remain witnesses as investigators continue reviewing bodycam footage and other evidence.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Henry Nowak’s death remains ongoing.
