Rachael Alamu has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene and secure the release of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State, warning that their captors are becoming increasingly impatient.
Alamu, who was abducted alongside several pupils and teachers, made the appeal in a viral video circulated on X and seen by ALO 360.
On May 15, gunmen invaded schools in Ahoro-Esinele community, Oriire LGA of Oyo State, and abducted dozens of pupils and teachers, including the school principal.
Speaking from captivity, Alamu said they had spent nearly two weeks in the bush under harsh conditions.
“Today is the 27th of May, 2026. About 13 days ago, we were picked up, and till now we are still in the bush,” she said.
“We are begging you, President Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, and every other well-meaning Nigerian to please help us.”
The principal also called on the Nigeria Union of Teachers and other stakeholders to intervene.
“We don’t need force. All they have to do is negotiate with them and release us,” she said.
Alamu said both the children and adults were enduring difficult conditions in captivity.
“We are in the cold, we are under the sun, we are under the rain — the children and the adults as well,” she said.
“Please, we are begging you. Don’t let them waste our lives.”
KIDNAPPERS ARE BECOMING FRUSTRATED
The school principal warned that the abductors were becoming frustrated and could become more dangerous if urgent action was not taken.
“They are getting impatient and frustrated. Please help us. We are begging you in the name of God,” she said.
“Don’t just leave us here. Don’t forget us in the bush. Please answer them on time.”
Alamu repeatedly urged the government to pursue dialogue rather than a military operation.
“This does not call for force at all. Please just negotiate with them and dialogue with them,” she said.
